Paul Schatzberger is a doctor with
30 years experience of general practice, having trained
in London at University College Hospital and subsequently
gaining membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners
with Distinction in 1977.
Additionally qualified in Public Health Medicine in 1995,
he became a successful medical leader managing change in
three successive NHS reorganisations, first as Chair of
North Sheffield Primary Care Group, then as Professional
Executive Committee Chair and Director of Primary Care
Medicine of North Sheffield Primary Care Trust, and latterly
as Consultant in Primary Care at Sheffield Primary Care
Trust until late 2007.
He was Clinical Chair of the National Primary Care Development
Team East Midlands Centre, leading improvements in clinical
services and management of general practice including reducing
death and disability from coronary heart disease and promoting
advanced access to their practices for patients.
Paul Schatzberger has a track record of providing medical
leadership and a clinical perspective to planning and implementation
of PCT policies. He is experienced in interpreting
and developing the interface between clinicians and managers,
and between general practice, hospitals and other partner
organisations – and in understanding and managing the
complexities of increasing the involvement of front-line
staff in service development and delivery. He now uses
these skills as a consultant in independent practice. |
