Jane
Speller
Consultant
Jane has worked for 15 years as a leadership development
and change management consultant in the UK and overseas.
She has a strong track record working in the private, public
and voluntary sectors. Her main skills are in: creating
organisational culture shifts to enhance business performance;
developing distributed leadership; and supporting and embedding
organisational change.
Driving her work is the desire to create more effective
leadership cultures and to make places of work happier
and more productive places for people to be.
“My work is all about helping people better understand
the tapestry of the human side of organisational life so
that individuals are enabled to give of their best, teams
work together effectively and creatively and the organisation
is more successful as a result. Key to achieving these
results is the ability to develop effective and productive
relationships for and with my clients.”
Jane specialises in the design and facilitation of activities
which:
- Support individuals by consultation that encourages
reflection of difficult, often emotional issues, so they
develop better understanding and a wider repertoire of
possible responses.
- Develop people, through new approaches to organisational
learning, and creative methods of in-house leadership
and manager development.
- Build teams, as the result of strong analytical and
group work skills, valuing difference, and the ability
to manage conflict.
- Develop cultures for improved organisational performance
by developing strong yet distributed leadership, by using
different forms of meeting and workshop design, and by
being thoughtful, perceptive and creative.
- Enable organisational integration, by developing good
relationships quickly, and by inspiring and creating
trust, so building strong networks and alliances.
Prior to her consultancy work, Jane’s career had
been in Social Services and in voluntary sector housing,
where latterly she was Director of Conferences Training & Development
at the National Housing Federation. She started working
as an organisation development consultant in the early
90’s having obtained a Masters degree in Human Resource
Development at London University. At the same time she
took on a core tutor role on the personal development programme
for senior managers at Roffey Park Management Institute.
Between 1998 and 2005 Jane lived abroad in southern Europe
and South East Asia. Assignments during this time included:
partner development at PriceWaterhouseCoopers; change consultancy
for DFID SE Asia; supporting a global change programme
for Barclays Capital in Singapore; designing and facilitating
strategic planning, leadership development and change management
at Save the Children in Indonesia and the USA; and redesigning
the business and recruitment of senior consultants at PT
Consulting Services, formerly KPMG Jakarta.
Since returning to live in London Jane continues to work
with a wide client base, which includes the Department
of Work and Pensions, the Centre for Excellence in Leadership,
and several International NGOs.
