Erica
Packington
Consultant
From a background in Marketing, PR, teaching and collaborative
working, Erica has been working with groups and teams all
of her career. She is now a Consultancy Works staff consultant,
having worked with the organisation since 2004.
She has worked with groups in large corporate organisations
(like IBM and Whitbread) those in mid-sized organisations
(such as schools, local government and within the NHS)
right down to tiny voluntary community groups. This range
of experience has helped her develop her perspective on
group work.
In addition to other projects, Erica has been working
with IBM for the past 4 years. Her work there has ranged
from establishing collaborative working practice for sales
teams, to running large scale on-line consultation processes.
All of this work has been conducted virtually. Helping
teams establish effective working relationships when they
may have never met face to face has helped her understand
the importance of processes that she believes are core
to successful team working - honest working relationships,
clear agreements on roles and responsibilities, transparency and
a common mission and goals.
Whether face to face or virtually, Erica's passion is
for working with individuals in teams to “get stuff
done” (or, in more sober language, achieve their
mission, aims and goals).
“I really enjoy helping a group of people to achieve
their goals – working out what they have to do, why
they are doing it and how they will go about being successful.
90% of the time the 'answers' to success already lie within
a group itself. I use facilitation to provide some structure
so that the individuals within the group can work together
to unlock that success for themselves.”
Erica is certified to administer the Myers Briggs Type
Indicator personality instrument. She holds a BA (Hons)
in Social and Political Studies from The University of
Sheffield, and is enrolled on the Masters in Organisational
Development at Sheffield Hallam University, due to complete
her studies there in 2009. |
